Yesenia Arvizu’s story begins in Tijuana, Mexico, where she was born and spent her early years. In 1978, she migrated to the United States, embarking on a journey filled with challenges and opportunities. From an early age, Yesenia recognized the transformative power of higher education. Her passion for learning and commitment to overcoming obstacles paved the way for a remarkable career in education. After years of hard work and dedication, Yesenia earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of La Verne.
Yesenia's professional journey in education spans 28 years. She began as a classified office assistant, an English teacher, where she inspired countless students with her dedication and enthusiasm. Her leadership skills and commitment to education led her to roles as an assistant principal and principal. Today, Yesenia serves as a Director in the Ontario-Montclair School District, where she continues to make a significant impact.
Her expertise and passion for education have made Yesenia a sought-after speaker. She has been featured at prestigious events such as the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA), the California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA), and the Family Leadership Institute (FLI).
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to education, Yesenia was recently honored with the 2024 Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 12 Administrator of the Year Award for Adult Education. This accolade reflects her unwavering commitment to promoting equitable and inclusive practices and fostering family engagement to ensure the success of all children.
